Being Barefoot: The Wisdom of Earthing

By Dr. Alexia Georgousis ND, BPE, CPC It is amazing how something as simple and natural as being barefoot is actually incredibly beneficial for our health. The forefathers and foremothers of naturopathic medicine often prescribed dew walking to improve immunity and circulation – sadly, many have been ridiculed for recommending these grounding practices. Now however, research studies are proving the nature doctors were right all along!  In fact, studies demonstrate having direct skin contact with the surface of the Earth for a sustained period of time (30 minutes) is extremely beneficial for our health. […]

The Relatable Lunchbox Recipe

By Kerri Lambie, Registered Homeopath & Holistic Nutritionist Food was an integral component to my upbringing. I have great memories of sitting around the kitchen table for hours with my family laughing and enjoying the meal prepared for us. Going to school I had the same enjoyment from opening my brown paper bag (yes I am aging myself) and eating with my friends. Although there were many times I was envious of the cakes and cookies my friends had, as my mother opted for healthy snacks. I used to think that times had changed, however now as the mother of two boys I see the same lunch comparisons coming up much like I had those years ago. Soon after beginning kindergarten, my eldest son came home asking why he didn’t get cookies in his lunch like his friends (up until that point his sugar intake was pretty minimal aside from some natural sugars). I knew he was referring to those multi-coloured sprinkle cookies that attracted kids like a magpie to a shiny object! It dawned on me that in addition to making sure he was getting nutritious food for lunch, the snacks also needed to be trendy food that he and the other kids could relate to, so that he didn’t feel deprived and left out. Here are a couple of my boy’s favourites: Easy Chocolate Avocado Pudding […]

Allergy Assessment using MORA Bioresonance Therapy

Allergy Assessment using MORA Bioresonance Testing By Dr. Angelina Riopel, ND  Allergies develop when the immune system mistakes a harmless substance like a food, animal dander or pollen as harmful.    “Leaky Gut Syndrome” (LGS) is a common underlying cause of food allergies and sensitivities. LGS is the result of irritation and inflammation of the gut lining, as well as disruption of the microbiome, which is composed of healthy flora within the gut. Irritation and inflammation result from chronic exposure to inflammatory foods, environmental toxins, pesticides, food additives and medication, which also disrupt the microbiome.  The leaky gut lining allows both bacteria and food proteins, that normally do not pass through the gut lining, into the systemic circulation, there they trigger the immune system and are labelled as invaders and allergies and sensitivities develop. […]

Transition Challenges of Going Back to School

By: Geraldine Del Monaco, Energy Healer & Intuitive Practitioner Anxious feelings are normal and expected during times of transition or change. This is especially true for children and teens going back to school, or for first-timers starting kindergarten. This transition can be stressful and disruptive for the entire family! Prior to the first day of school, your anxious child may cling, cry, have temper tantrums, complain of headaches or stomach pains, withdraw, and become sullen or irritable. Worries are common. Anxious children and teens worry about many different school-related issues, such as teachers, friends, fitting in, and/or being away from their parents. Also as parents, we often have high expectation and when they are not met, we can unconsciously transmit our frustration to our kids. The following are a list of physical and emotional signs of anxiety that parents can watch for: […]
